IUEC March 2023

Local Roundup Swearing in of new officers March 2023 29 LOCAL 10 • Washington, DC Membership Yes, we are all members of this local, but what we want to talk about is the strong bond that we bestow upon all our members, from old to young, new members to seasoned veterans. This came to light these past few months but especially during Christmas when one of our own suffered a devastating fire to his house. It had a major impact on his family, especially to his children at this time of year. Once again, the membership was put into action and the results were amazing! A significant amount of money was raised and, best of all, the unity that was shown by the union members from our local and other locals was nothing short of amazing. The Toy Box Connection, which is closely tied to Local #2 out of Chicago, did an amazing job of shipping out incredible boxes filled with gifts for the children in time for Christmas. We want to thank all of the members who showed up to help out on such short notice. This is what union membership and brotherhood means as a whole. We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who came to the aid of Union Brother Kelly Catterton and his family when they needed it the most. This is what union membership and brotherhood are all about!! His thank you speech at the last union meeting was spoken from his heart and very touching to all in attendance, and we wish him the best in the future. This is why we support The Toy Box Connection every year. They come through every Christmas to those in need, and they do it in a spectacular way. Our workload is holding steady and with the prospect of more materials arriving soon, work should pick up in the near future. Copies of the new contract agreement are available at the union hall along with the pay rate sheet and zone pay info. Please make sure to check your pay stubs to make sure that you are being paid the new rates. It is great to witness the swearing in of all of our new members every month at the union meeting. The lifetime career that they are about to embark on is a great one. Please use it to your advantage and produce the best possible product for our customers. We look forward to seeing everyone on the second Thursday of every month at the union hall. Dinner is served before the meeting which starts promptly at 6:00 p.m. The friendships that are kept up and the camaraderie shared by all is what it is all about. Stay informed of all the upcoming classes and events on the Local 10 website or provide your email address to the hall to be sent all the notifications directly.
