26 The ELEVATOR CONSTRUCTOR Local Roundup Kevin Young (Excel) with Jimmy Ray and Zach Schindler (Otis) LOCAL 7 • Baltimore, Maryland Greetings from Baltimore. We held our annual holiday party at the beginning of January with over 170 members, retirees, and guests in attendance. At that time, I am proud to announce, we did not have any members on our bench here in Baltimore. A great time was had by all and it was nice catching up with all who attended the party. As a reminder, if you find something in a door or safety circuit not working correctly, be sure to remove the unit from service and lock out and tag out. It is our responsibility to ensure our safety and the safety of whoever enters our hoistways and the general riding public. The hall has been making as many job visits as they can schedule. Everyone is doing a good job with safety; just remember to follow company safety policies, use your PPE, and be sure to check inspection dates on rigging and hoists. The hall made particular mention of how well our newer mechanics are doing and it’s good to see the torch has been passed to the capable hands of the next generation in Local 7. This month’s pictures feature Zach Edwards, Vernon Hild Jr, Clayton Vanderwiele, Garrett Christian, Asen Boshnakov, Mike Kaminski and Vincent Davis (Local 10) with KONE; Kevin Young from Excel with Jimmy Ray and Zach Edwards from Otis; and Jeremy Walters from TK with Jose Chuquitaipe (Local 10). Lastly, I regret to inform you of the passing of second-year apprentice Jonathan Maffucci. Jonathan passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2023. He is remembered by his two sons. May our brother rest in peace. Until next month, brothers and sisters, let me finish by reminding everyone to stay safe and take pride in our work. Fraternally yours, Mike Bojarski Local 7 Jeremy Walters and Jose Chuquitaipe (TK) KONE crews at the Baltimore Arena Honorary Retiree Hank Danker with his son BA Jason Danker SAFETY RULES are always your best tools.
